Why isn’t my page on Google?
Paste the address of the page that is missing. We check it the way Googlebot meets it — does it load, is it allowed, does it ask to be left out — and stop at the first thing in the way.
What we check, in order
Six things between a page and Google.
- Does it load? An error, a login page or a redirect loop stops Google before it reads a word.
- Does robots.txt allow it? One stray “Disallow” line, often left over from when the site was being built, can hide a whole section.
- Does it say noindex? The commonest cause of all. WordPress has a single tick-box that adds it to every page, and it is easy to forget it is on.
- Where does its canonical point? A page that names another address as its main version is asking Google to index that one instead.
- Is there enough on it? Google indexes a page when it thinks it is worth showing. A page with a heading and a phone number often is not, yet.
- Is it in the sitemap? Not required, but it is how Google hears about new pages fastest.
Questions people ask first
Does this tell me if my page is indexed?
No, and nothing outside Google can tell you reliably. Searching site: your address gives a
rough idea, but Search Console’s URL Inspection is the real answer. This tells you whether anything
on your side is stopping it.
My whole site is missing, not one page.
Check your homepage here first: a site-wide noindex or robots.txt block shows up on every page. Then run the free audit, which checks ten pages at once, and read why a website does not show up on Google.
How long does indexing take?
For a new page on an established site, days. For a brand-new site, a few weeks is normal. Requesting indexing in Search Console helps; requesting it repeatedly does not.
